Water fountain

Recommended by:
@wolf_go_slow
A drinking water fountain is highly recommended to ensure that your blind dog can always find his or her way back to their water bowl. The gentle noise of the fountain acts as a sound marker to help them navigate their surroundings.

This higher quality, stainless steel version has been recommended due to its heavier design preventing it from being accidentally knocked over. The four spouts also allow your dog to approach the bowl from any angle.
When we first adopted Raj, we worried about him being able to find his food and water, so we got a water fountain as his water bowl, so he would be able to follow the noise until he got used to the layout.  @Wolf_go_slow

Muffin's halo

There seems to be two schools of thought when it comes to using a blind dog halo to help them navigate the world around them:
  1. They are great and protect your dog from injuring themselves.
  2. They stop your dog learning to navigate their environment naturally.

The benefits of using a halo will depend entirely on your dogs personality, lifestyle and environment, as well as their journey to becoming blind. We think they’re a great option for blind dogs when exploring new surroundings.

Blind Dog Bumper Collars also produce another halo-style collar for blind dogs.
Muffins Halo for blind dogs is a great product for a pet that has recently gone blind. It helps prevent them from bumping into things! Leo doesn't mind wearing it at all and it definitely stops him from injuring his head when he walks around the house.

Don't buy them a bumper or halo: touch is one of the few senses they have left and they need to feel things to get information. If they have a big piece of wire or plastic around their body that's one more sense that has been robbed of them.

Slow feed bowl

Slow feed bowls are designed for dogs who woof down their dinner too quickly. They are also the perfect blind dog accessory, turning meal time into great mental stimulation.

Snuffle mat

Treat time is a great opportunity to add fun and mental stimulation for a blind dog. Snuffle Mats engage your dogs other senses as they try to find their hidden treats.

Durable and fully machine washable, a Snuffle Mat is a simple but effective tool for all blind dog owners.

Ruffwear front lead harness

A good collar or harness is critical to keeping your blind dog safe and heading in the right direction.

Not all blind dog collars are created equal. Ruffwear provide sturdy products for dogs and have been recommended by many other dog owners. This front lead harness has been recommended specifically for blind dogs as it offers much greater ability to lead your vision impaired dog than a regular collar.
We have had a great experience with a front lead harness as it helps us direct Arlo where to walk.  @arlo.wonderpup
This company is rock solid. We've always used their collars/leashes with our other dogs.  @noodsterscootster

Giggle ball

This is the ultimate ball for dogs of all abilities. Guaranteed to keep your dog engaged for hours, its rigid construction and large size makes it hard for most dogs to pick up.

Get ready for a high energy run around the yard after this noisy ball! Make sure the area is clear of any potential hazards before your play.

Dog goggles

If your blind dog has retain their eyes, these goggles offer important protection from trees and branches as your dog begins to adventure off leash.

Sensory ball

A sensory ball is the perfect toy for blind dogs. It works to stimulate all of their remaining senses (sound, smell, touch, and taste).

The ball contains a bell and squeaker, it is beef scented and flavored, and has multiple textures.

These balls come highly recommended by other owners in our community as a great toy for blind dogs.

Blind dog collar and harness

This is a must-have blind dog accessory. Many people find it important to communicate to others that they need to approach your vision impaired dog with caution so as not to startle them.

These harnesses are great for trips to the park or shops where there are higher chances of interactions with others.

Tracerz blind dog scent markers

Scent markers are a commonly used tool to help your blind dog navigate your house and yard using their sense of smell. These markers can help trace a path (such as from the back yard to the door) or to mark obstacles and reduce collisions.

Ocu-GLO supplements

This supplement is recommended by most optometrist to help slow the progression of glaucoma. It contains a number of different antioxidants that target the eyes and are normally recommended as a complimentary medication to other prescribed medications such as Dorzolimide drops.
